I’m a researcher, artist, and designer. That comes with the constant desire to write, paint, build and create. I’m infatuated with the clicking sound of the camera shutter, ragged old books on Yemen’s past, and the history of colour. I study post-conflict nation state transformation, legal history, and gender relations in Yemen. My work brings to life the stories of my ancestors and my community’s history - especially the intricate tales grandmothers share as bed time stories. My art complements my research, and I’m constantly exploring new ways to utilize art and design for resistance and social change.
